The Fight

Once upon a time, Sun and Moon were fighting to prove who was stronger and more important entity in the universe.

Sun said "Obviously I am the strongest and the brightest. My rays help people on earth and provide enough energy for the stars to shine bright in night. You don't posses such power."

The moon replied "Oh sure, you are powerful, but in this universe, brute force always has lesser value than softer emotions like beauty and calmness. My beauty is incomparable. I have been the subject of poets throughout the world across all ages. My rays are not harsh as yours and I give comfort to the tired people in the night. Also I am like a beauty spot on this dark sky."

Their quarrel went on for a long time. It disturbed other heavenly bodies around them.

Finally, the North star who was the bravest and the brightest amongst all other stars, gathered courage and interrupted with a loud yell, "Stop!! You are disturbing all of us". Upon hearing such a statement both Sun and Moon stopped fighting and stared at the North star. The north star said "Look, both of you are equally important in this universe. Sun, you are an essential source of energy for all , and Moon you are our soothing source. Think of all the living things that are there on planet Earth. If both of you keep on fighting, the life on earth will get very disturbed, so please maintain your peace and work together as a team".

Upon hearing this both understood each other's importance and learnt the lesson of not being egoistic and helping those who are dependent on them.

Friendship

One day Jumbo elephant was roaming in jungle with his son Rambo. Rambo was an energetic and a very curious elephant baby. His father always watched him as Rambo entered into trouble very often.

That day too Jumbo kept an eye over Rambo, but Rambo, curious and naughty as always, sneaked away from his father's sight and went into deep jungle. He was enjoying his freedom but slowly realized that he had come quite far away from his father. He tried to return, but somehow could not get the proper way. He got more and more despondent and finally out of fear started crying.

As he was moving in a confused manner, he had a strange feeling as if someone was following him. He became more scared.  Suddenly a lion appeared from the bushes and stood in front of Rambo.

The Lion,  with a cunning smile asked Rambo" Hello there, how are you, are you lost ?". Frightened Rambo answered " Yes, I am, I am not able to find my way out of this jungle. I am also looking for my father."

The lion smiled in a shrewd way and said "oh dear! you poor little fellow, let me help you find your way out. I know this jungle very well." Rambo hesitated but he felt the politeness and sweet tone of lion very reassuring and so he started to follow the lion.

The lion had different plan , he was taking Rambo to his den to have him for lunch. Unaware about the motive of lion, the innocent Rambo was  following him.

On the way, a pair of deer were grazing. They were surprised to see the scene of Rambo following a ferocious lion. The deers were close friend of Rambo, the papa elephant. The male deer correctly assessed the situation. He understood that the elephant baby was following the lion in innocence and would surely be killed. The deer said to his wife "The lion is determined to eat the elephant baby, I must protect him, as he is my friend's son".

The female deer thought of a plan and said " I will distract the lion and will let him to chase me, by the time, you take the baby elephant out of his sight and lead him back to Jumbo."

Although the plan was fraught with danger, the male deer agreed to the plan as the life of a young one and that too of a friend's child was in danger.

The female deer gathered her courage and tried to distract the lion. The lion tried not to be swayed, but the female deer taunted him. The lion got angry and also because of his greed, momentarily forgot about the baby elephant and started chasing the female deer. The female deer raced for her life and vanished in the bushes.

The lion got puzzled and by the time he realized his foolishness, the male deer had explained the Rambo about the plans of the lion and took him safely out of the deep jungle.

There,  Jumbo was searching for his son and was very happy to see him with deer safe and sound. The deer said "Hello Jumbo, you must have been very anxious, here is Rambo, he is safe now." Jumbo hugged his son and gave him a strong bumpy pat . Rambo understood why his father had hit him and promised not to go alone to an unknown place.

Jumbo profusely thanked his friend the deer and his wife for saving Rambo.

The lost earrings

Anjali was very excited as today, it was  Picnic Day at her school. She woke up a little early from her routine time and got ready. She packed all the listed items she had thought of, in her small pink bag.
Sneaking from her mother's eyes, she wore the expensive earrings that her mother gave on her 10th birthday. She was eager to show them to her friends. Her mother called her for breakfast but she rushed towards the bus stand pretending to get late for her picnic. She saw few of her friends at the stand.
Smiling and feeling proud of her earrings she walked towards the stand and started chit chatting with them. Her friend, Nandita noticed the earrings. She said "wow Anjali, they are so beautiful, must be expensive?". Anjali lifted her head up and in a very deliberate tone answered "Yes, these are very expensive, my mother gifted me on my birthday." All other friends gathered around her and admired her earrings. The bus came and all the friends went to school.
At school, Anjali's beautiful earrings were the morning topic among her friends. The teacher asked all students to gather and go to respective buses for the picnic trip. All students headed for their respective buses and their picnic trip started.
The picnic location was a beautiful garden "Millennium park" . As the bus reached the destination, all the students yelled with joy and rush out of the bus towards the garden. They all settled at suitable places and begin to play games in groups. After lunch break, as all of them started to play again,  Reena asked Anjali "where is one of your earring ?". To her utter surprise Anjali found one earring missing. She was shocked and  confused. She started looking for it and her friends  helped her too. But the effort become useless as the earring was not found. Anjali started to cry as  she knew that her mother will punish her for this loss badly.
The teacher was reported about the missing earring. She called Anjali and scolded her for this mistake. Anjali's picnic was spoiled  because of her own carelessness. She regret the loss of her earrings and was afraid of the reaction of her mother over this issue.
The picnic wind up on its scheduled time and all the students boarded the buses. All were very happy and excited , they yelled and sang songs while returning back ,but only Anjali was quite and sad . She was getting scared more as the distance to her house was becoming less.
The bus stopped at the stand . Anjali, with her other friends got down and started moving towards her house. She rang the bell and her mother opened the door. As she entered, she hold her mother and cried very badly. Confused and anxious, her mother questioned  about this behavior. Anjali was sobbing. She said " Mother I had lost my gold earring , I had worn them in morning to show them to my friends , I am really sorry". Her mother was shocked and angry to hear this. She scolded her " How could you do such a thing Anjali, Such careless attitude. You did not even ask me? ". Hearing this Anjali saw her mother  as if feeling guilty of her mistake. Her mother went inside and with an angry face show her the pair of same earrings. Anjali was shocked. Her mother smiled and said " I knew that you will do such thing ,I had kept same designed imitation pair in your drawer, I hope you had learnt a good lesson from your mistake and you will not repeat this again. " Anjali hugged her mother and promised not to do such a thing again.
